Previously the Newstalk ZB building, the multi-storey building at 54 Cook Street needed a full refurbishment to house the new LyLo Auckland Hotel.

Platform were engaged in 2018 by Centuria as project manager to undertake the integrated base building shell upgrade and tenant fit out.

LyLo, which opened on 1st December 2022, is a budget lifestyle hotel that features 70 private ensuite rooms, 37 private double rooms and 190 sleeping pods alongside shared amenities, a large, shared kitchen, multiple breakout spaces and a large bar and eatery Miss Lucy’s.

The building upgrade included considerable shell and core modifications, structural and seismic upgrades, vast improvements to the façade with full replacements of the South and East building faces, plus internal lifts, staircases and building amenities.

Platform Consulting Group worked in partnership with CPRW as the Architect and Designer, BBD as the Quantity Surveyor and Cape Limited as the Main Contractor.

Jeff and the Platform team played a massive role in transforming a vacant commercial building into our game changing new budget lifestyle accommodation property, LyLo Auckland. Platform were brilliant at guiding us through the process, which was also significantly impacted by the COVID pandemic. A real key to the success was their ability to find solutions to problems, which not only ensured the project continued to move forward, but also was a suitable outcome to all parties. This is a skill very much required with these sorts of builds.
