Walker Wayland (WW) were originally located over 2 floors in a building on Shortland Street in Auckland’s CBD.
Platform Consulting Group was tasked with relocating WW onto a single floor plate on the 14th floor of the Lumley Tower, also on Shortland Street.
The brief from WW was to create a memorable client and staff experience that would connect teams with a variety of offices, meeting rooms, and lounges across a single floor. Their new workplace also needed to take into account the company’s potential future growth in addition to their current needs.
The entrance and front desk set the tone for the rest of the office space’s design, elements and furniture. This simple but welcoming space helps as the first impact for WW’s employees, guests, and clients.
Another key feature to their new workplace was the café hub – the brief was to create a space for hosting social gatherings, breakouts, and office-wide events.
Being a project carried out in the middle of the Covid-19 breakout we had to adapt and deal with a number of obstacles including lockdown, social distancing and supply chain issues. We worked very closely with a very accommodating client and leadership team to overcome these issues.

“
Our brief to Platform was to deliver a working space that put client and staff experience at the forefront of the design.
They rose to the challenge of a set deadline in spite of procurement and construction difficulties brought about by the pandemic and lengthy Auckland lockdown with a whole team approach to addressing issues.
Their team were engaged, practical, and kept us well informed to quickly make key design and budget decisions that inevitably arose in that period. They demonstrated exacting standards throughout to deliver an outcome we can each be proud of.
